Common questions
Can I rent a room on an apprentice wage?
Many people do, but work out your monthly take-home pay first and compare it with rent, travel, food and any bills not included. See our budgeting guide.
Will I need a guarantor as an apprentice?
It depends on the landlord and your circumstances. Ask early what they need; our guarantor guide explains the options.
What references can I give if I have not rented before?
An employer or training provider letter and a character reference are common. Ask the landlord what they accept.
Should I check the journey before I sign?
Yes. Check the route and times to your actual workplace or college for your start and finish times, including the journey home.
